Rating: 4/4
Trance
Another masterful work from hit-British Director Danny Boyle ("Trainspotting", "28 days later", "Slumdog Millionaire", "127 Hours"). This is basically "The British Inception" (sort of) but A LOT more sexual and A LOT more graphic then you can only imagine. Danny Boyle gives Audiences, once again, a very dark and brilliant Film that after a short amount of time has passed by it's just gonna stick and haunt them for about 2 or 3 days. Boyle did to me. When I had finished watching "Trainspotting" for the first time it just HAUNTED me for quit some time. YET it was so, so, SO brilliant at the same time. Just like this incredible Film. The Cast for this Film, probably unknown for some, is just ABSOLUTELY fantastic in this. They all should be nominated at the 86th Academy Awards next year in 2014. Either get nominated for THAT or Best Cast ensemble because they all have great chemistry with each other in these situations. The Story is that an Art Auctioneer gets heavily mixed up with a group of very dangerous Criminals with a hypnotherapist to get back a lost Painting. It may sound simple as that but TRUST ME it's not. "Trance" is one of those Films like "Vanilla Sky", "Synecdoche, New York", or "Inception" (which I already compared to) that you need to watch at least 2 or 3 times to fully understand it. The Film is going to end with a very impressive and possibly WTF?! climax that if you don't fully pay attention to it you're gonna basically get lost in translation with it afterwards. You will just hate and loathe this Film for being so, but not as, confusing that you'll avoid and want to get rid of it out your Mind for Months. That's going to happen for sure but if you have enough time on your Hands to re-watch it again you will just love this Film. I loved it as well. The amount of Mindfucks in this Film where brilliantly well-put into the story the acting by McAvoy, Cassel, and Dawson is superb, and the writing is fantastic. The Script for this brings all of this stuff together in such a smart way as possible that you just get chills in your Spin with how fantastically staged it's done. Just like with these Actors this Script should be nominated in the Screenplay category as well. I almost forgot about Boyle. Now Boyle is just having the time of hid life making this Film. You can tell because every image, scene, and Production design is so perfectly done in this that'll it'll, once again, bring chills down your Spine. He should (probably) get a nomination as well. Now the Film may be a little to sick or graphic for one to chew down there Gut because of all of the violence, and trust me there's is A LOT of violence in this. "Django Unchained" wasn't as violent as this, and very sexual, and This Film features full on frontal Nudity. Front and back. It's a Film so remember to control yourself, but, hey, if we got through "Requiem for a Dream" just fine then we all can for this Film to. A brilliant, disturbing Film with great Acting, writing, and Directing that I look forward to see a third time. You may have to follow my footsteps because, again, if you want to understand this masterpiece you need to do some re-watching and A LOT of time on your Hands. Trust me.
