End of Watch
Easily, EASILY one of the darkest (maybe even the darkest) and (probably) one of the best Films to be released in 2012. "End of Watch" comes from Director/Wrier David Ayer who wrote the hit Film "Training Day" back in 2001. This whole Film is shot in documentary-style and with a Camera that co-star Jake Gyllenhaal (who was also one of the executive producers) as a Police Officer uses throughout the Film. It's kind of like "Chronicle" earlier this year in which it was shot with cameras and documentary-like. "End of Watch", however, is probably a much more darker and much more well put together Film then "Chronicle" was. It's also not a science fiction Film. Another thing about this Film is that it's probably the most realistic Film that I've seen all year because not only does this Film look real enough being shot like a documentary, but the dialogue (most of it being the word "fuck"), the acting, the crimes that you see Jake Gyllenhaal and co-star Michael Pena (who also plays a Police Officer) do in this Film, and the (extremely graphic) violence and deaths (from a person being beat do death and someone else being shot down) that you see in this Film just makes this Film just feel so, so real. It's almost kind of scary. Perhaps the main reason that David Ayer decided to shoot the Film like that was so that he can make the audience feel like that there really there. Like when you see them fighting of criminals, getting shot at, and getting into series fights it just feels so real. Like your actually there. It's kind of like Films like "Traffic", "United 93", "The Hurt Locker", and even "Chronicle". Gyllenhaal and Pena also give great, powerful performances in this Film so you'll just stay rooted for them the whole Film. Even at the end (don't worry I won't spoil it). This Film gets major points for that because it kept me up the whole time. I was never bored watching this Film for a second. So anyway while "End of Watch" is probably one of the best Films that I've seen all year and is probably the darkest Film to be release this year in 2012 (don't forget we still have Kathryn Bigelow's highly anticipated Film "Zero Dark Thirty", I also mentioned her other Film "The Hurt Locker" as well) I think that a lot of people should try and check this one out with a bug open Mind because after this Film is done, your just going to feel so haunted and maybe shaken because you saw a Film with great acting, great writing, and just a great Film all together.
