The Bling Ring
Rating: 2.5/4
Well, considering that "The Bling Ring" comes from Sofia Coppola ("Lost in Translation", daughter of Francis Ford Coppola) this was a disappointment. Sure, there's stuff like celebrity cameos and even potential, but this still felt like a bit of a disappointment to me. But what makes "Bling Ring" not so big of a disappointment is Emma Watson. Honestly, if it were not for Emma Watson gifted, and great performance in this Film, then "Bling Ring" would simply be un-watchable. Granted, there was Emma Watson along side the rest of the cast members who at least gave good, simple performances in this Film (even though when you watch this Film NONE of them -- even Watson -- are likable). So, "Bling Ring" was a bit of a letdown to me because for a Film that's about five teens going into celebrity homes (mostly, Paris Hilton) and stealing there Clothes, Shoes, and Bags, nothing much happens at all in this. This is one of the slowest Films that I've seen for a premise as crazy and wild as five teenagers invading celebrity homes and robbing them. Heck, even "Lost in Translation" went by as fast as this and the only two main stars in that Film were Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson (an obvious joke aiming at Sofia Coppola's hit Film). Another thing with this is that most of this Film involves the main characters just playing around with Clothes and the stuff that they steal in the houses. So, nothing much really happens except for them just messing around, smoking, drinking, and pretty much anything else that a wannabe-Teen living in Hollywood would want to do if they had the chance. But again, in spite of all this, "Bling Ring" is really just Emma Watson's Film. If your a big fan of Emma Watson, then "The Bling Ring" is (sort of) the Film for you because along side the Harry Potter Films, in "Bling Ring" she probably gave one of her best, gifted, and downright great performance in this that when you see this Film you forget the fact that nobody is likable in this (even her), and how nobody really does anything in this for about 90% of the time. So, if it were not for Watson pretty much in this Film, then this Film would be garbage. On the other hand, while I was disappointed by Sofia's newest Film, it was still an OK enough Film that I guess I can recommend to some, SOME people. If they can pretty much ignore how slow and unlikable everyone is in this Film, and just focus on Emma Watson's acting, then they'll at least not nod there Head for a majority of this..... I hope.
