Neighbors
Rating: 3/4
Well, for those who where big, die-hard fans of the hilarious "This is the End" from last year (2013), you're going to be very, very disappointed with "Neighbors". However, for those who are looking to watch a decent, enjoyable, very twisted comedy before summer starts, then "Neighbors" is the Film for you. But even if "Neighbors" is nowhere near as funny as "This is the End" was it still feels like another Seth Rogen Film because Rogen is pretty much doing the same thing that he does in all of his other Films: Smoking Drugs (mostly Weed), non-stop cursing, being involved in insane situations, and starring along side an impressive amount of actors who feel perfectly fine with doing stuff like getting shot at or smoking at least a gallon full of hard Drugs (that may not make sense, but come on, it's a Seth Rogen FIlm for God's sake). So, while this does feel like yet another Seth Rogen film, it was still a very funny Film because despite Rogen just doing the same thing in R-rated Films that he either wrote of just starred in, the Film still worked overall because this Film was AT LEAST written well and had a cast that were all enjoying themselves in this. Someone like Zac Efron (who I can say has finally moved away from that Disney image) is just enjoying the hell out of this Film. When you watch him in this, he's just having a blast with this Film. Even if Efron really wasn't THAT amusing in "Neighbors" he was still enjoying himself enough for people to sort of appreciate the amount of effort he gave in this Film. And, yes, he is shirtless in this Film. So, the fangirls WILL have something to remember from "Neighbors". But while I really didn't find Efron to be THAT funny in this, he still did a good job with "Neighbors". When you watch this Film, seeing al of the stuff that he does in this (mostly involving sex, drugs, and women), you pretty much forget that this was the guy who starred in "High School Musical" so many years ago. However, when Seth Rogen and Zac Efron are both together on screen, THAT'S when this Film starts to get enjoyable. There's even a fight scene between the two (I'm not going to spoil it) of them that's so funny, twisted, and wrong that when you watch it, you just begin to laugh in the most awkward and twisted way that you think to yourself: "Wow, these two are really enjoying themselves with this Film". So although "Neighbors" wasn't as funny, or even as enjoyable as "This is the End" was, it was still an OK comedy Film that worked for a majority because of Seth Rogen doing what he does best in these kind of R-rated comedies and Zac Efron, despite not really being as funny or amusing as I thought, giving his all with a Film that involves him doing stuff like doing Drugs, getting women, having sex, putting Air Bags in people's Houses, or even having a "Robert De Niro party" -- THAT I did find to be very, very, funny.
