Brave
One of the things that Pixar's newest Film "Brave" accomplishes is that it's the first one of there Films to ever star a female protagonist. Other Films like "The Princess and the Frog" and "Tangled" also had female protagonist star in them, but those two Films weren't from Pixar -- they where Films from Disney's own animated Studio. I don't have a problem with a female protagonist starring in this Film, it's just that maybe Pixar isn't exactly ready to have one just yet. But despite that, I still enjoyed most of this Film in the end. So OK, it's not Pixar's best work in years but I still enjoyed it. That, to me, is somewhat a shock. The Animation, like with all of Pixar's Films, is superb and incredible, The Voice acting, by Kelly MacDonald ("Trainspotting") and two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson ("Sense and Sensibility", "Howard's end") is well done, and the effort put into it is fantastic. They were all also having a lot of fun doing the voices for it to. Now the reason I say it is not Pixar's best Film is because unlike there other Films, Toy Story 3, Up, Wall-e, in which the tone and the situations were being aimed at both Kids and Adults "Brave" is being aimed at much younger Kids (about 7-9). The reason this is is because in "Brave" there is a lot of comedy in it. Pixar Films have featured a lot of comedy in there Films, but here the Film consists of 75% comedy. 50% of it is physical comedy which I thought was really really not working. I say this because most of it falls completely flat and never really works put towards the Story. The other 25% of it is really goofy comedy that is aimed at much younger audiences at around 7-9. I already had mentioned this earlier in my review. The Film also seems like a mix between "Brother Bear" and "The Lion King". It's not exactly plagiarism you may think but it is very similar to it (Don't forget Disney had also released the disastrous "The Wild" which DID plagiarize another well known Film). But that said the things that I did like was the characters which I cared a lot for (Like in most Pixar Films), I liked the whole Mother/Daughter messages that they gave in the Film (Even though I am a guy), and like always I really dug the ending. Heartwarming and happy like ALL of Pixar's Films (If you don't believe me go check out the ending of "Toy Story 3"). So it was good but it is there second weakest effort (next to "Cars 2", of course).
(This is one of the few reviews that I have ever done in which it's really, really short and where I don't have much to say about it. But that's because I don't want to be to detailed and don't want to write like five pages of one Film that I paid $8.50 to see)
