21 Jump Street
Though it's to early to call "21 Jump Street" the funniest comedy of 2012, I got to say that this Film was freaking hilarious. I was laughing from beginning to end watching this funny-ass Film. Jonah Hill (coming off of his Oscar nominated performance in last years "Moneyball") and Channing Tatum are not only just hilarious in this, but they both share some of the best chemistry that you'll ever see in a comedy Film (well, so far in 2012 that is). You can clearly tell that from the start of "21 Jump Street" that there both having the best times of there life because those two do so many crazy and messed up stuff that you Jaw will not only drop (literally) to the Floor, but you'll also just want to applaud them afterwards. Especially at the end of this Film. That's when you'll just want to stand up out of your seat and applaud. I'm not going to spoil what they do in this because this is one of the Films in which it's so good, so funny, and just so much fun that you need to just see this to believe it. It'll basically be the best $8.00 you'll so far spend on a Film. Well that is until "Marvel's The Avenger's" comes out soon this year. When I went and say this Film a few nights ago, everybody in that Theater where just freaking loosing there shit because this Film was just so funny and crazy that some people where almost crying laughing and nearly applauding this Film. I will be honest and say that I, Frank Johnson, was among those people in the Theater. As I said before, this Film is just so much fun and so funny that you'll practically want to applaud it. And my God, did people applaud it when it ended. Now for some of you not knowing "21 Jump Street" is based off of an old 1987 TV series with the same exact name. The late TV series starred (I'll also bring up the Oscars) Academy-Award nominee Johnny Depp, Holly Robinson, and Peter DeLuise. The TV series was about Depp, Robinson, and DeLuise as undercover Cops (like this Film) solving cases at High Schools (again, like this Film), Colleges, and other places that involved teenagers (once again, like this Film!). One of the biggest things that's different from the TV series is that in the Film version there's more comedy and slapstick. In the TV show it was much more dark and serious. Another thing is that there's a whole new cast in this then in the TV show (obviously).
What surprised me about "21 Jump Street" was the Director or Directors of this. Filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Lord and Miller are both the directors of the 2009 Film "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs" (which was also based off of something) It really surprised me to think that the directors of one of the most goofy and sweetest children's Film would go off and direct a Film like this. It's like if Don Bluth was the one who directed "Friends with Benefits" last year. Well I got to say that I was impressed with there directing because I had no idea that the directors of a children's Film ("Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs") would direct a Film like "21 Jump Street" filled with violence, sex, drug use, and non-stop language (seriously, words like "fuck", "shit", and probably the Films favorite word, "dick" is said like a million times in this Film). Pretty much anybody could have directed this Film. Well anyway, I also liked how in the Film they bought up references about the TV show because throughout this whole Film it's everywhere. Well, actually there Easter Eggs (like in a Pixar Film). You'll miss a few of them if you blink. You also won't believe you makes an appearance in this Film. Not going to spoil it. So I highly recommend that you check out "21 Jump Street" as soon as you can because it'll, so far, be the most funny and most fun Film of 2012 (even though 2012 practically just started). So go check it out.
