Mr. Peabody and Sherman
Rating: 3/4
I would like to say that -- and I think we all can agree -- when I saw Trailers, Ads, and Clips for "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" I thought that the Film was going to be terrible because I thought it was going to look like another "Alvin and the Chipmunks" or "The Smurfs (2011) in which there going to "hip-it up", have durative potty humor, and be a time-killer for Kids ("Escape from Planet Earth" is a very good example). But, when I saw this Film, it completely surprised me. So, although "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" won't win any major award in future, I still think that it was a surprisingly good-natured and amusing little Film. I mean, even if it's not like a Pixar Film or a Film by Hayao Miyazaki (who actually just retired from making animated Films), I still think that it's enjoyable. What surprised me about this Film is that they got Ty Burrell ("Modern Family") to voice the character, Mr. Peabody, in this. And I GOT to give Burrell credit because he did such a great job voicing this character that throughout this whole Film I believed everything that this character was saying and doing. Especially coming out from a Computer Animated talking Dog. Another person who I was impressed with was the Kid who voiced Sherman, Max Charles. This Kid did such a great job voicing Sherman that, like Ty Burrell voicing Mr. Peabody, I believed EVERYTHING that was going on with the character. Ty Burrell (Mr. Peabody) and Max Charles (Sherman) together where just so flat-out fantastic in this Film. Along with "The Lego Movie" this is one of the smartest written animated Films that I've seen so far in 2014. After all, it does come from the guys who did the equally terrific "How to Train Your Dragon" in 2010. However, the only problem that I have this Film is that the Film's last act felt a bit to forced and rushed because since this Film is only an hour and thirty minutes long, they had to just kind of half-baked the Film in one big finish. So, that kind of ruined it for me. But despite the problem I had with the last act with this Film, I still was able to enjoy this Film thanks to great voice performances by stars Ty Burrell and Max Charles, great writing, and beautiful animation. Since it comes from Dreamworks, it's always going to have beautiful animation so we all know what to expect from them. So, by surprise, "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" is a very good-natured and enjoyable Film that you can check out.
