Olympus has fallen
This could have been a much better Film if the Film's Director, Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day'), could have at least fixed this Script. Hell, he even could have gotten Screenwriter Mark Bomback to polish off about 80% of this Film. This is actually based off of a spec Script that Screenwriters Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt had written back in 2012. On March 2012 Millennium Films got there Script and went out of there way to make there Script star Gerard Butler ("300").
Now there's already a problem with this Film because getting Gerard Butler to star in your next Film does not indicate that it's going to be decent because Butler here as been staring in a lot of critical failures like "Playing for keeps" and "Movie 43". So not a good sign. They also got Academy Award winner, Morgan Freeman ("Driving Miss Daisy", "Million Dollar Baby"), to star in this Film to. I think him and Butler where both miscast for this Film. So if the casting for this Film was a bad choice then what the heck went, sort of, wrong with "Olympus has fallen"? well first let's run down what this Film is even about, It's about North Koreans that assault the White House and then lead secret service agent Mike Banning, played by Gerard Butler, has to stop and put an end to there terror once and for all. You're all thinking that that's more of a synopsis then what the Film is even about but the reason I said that little summary is because THAT'S PRETTY MUCH WHAT THE REST OF THIS FILM IS ABOUT. There really is nothing else going on but silly, non-stop action. That seems to go on for quit a long time because never, for a second, does this Film just breathe or takes a break from it. Second, is the premise of this Film, which is INCREDIBLY silly. I'm surprised that this Film wasn't talked about with the U.S.A Government or the Korean Government. Maybe I'm wrong maybe this Film was banned in Korea. Trust me Korea would NOT be happy with "Olympus has fallen". Third, and last, is the editing. The editing in this is terrible. It literally bounces from one scene to another in just a flash. It looks really sloppy and half-assed that while the action was going on I got a very big headache. i literally needed a back of Ice to my Head when this sane Film was over. Despite this I will say that I did have fun with this Film. I was bouncing a little bit in my Seat when most of the action was happening on screen and I enjoyed a lot of it. i will also say that, despite having a lot of miscast Actors, the Actors in this were at least having fun doing this. they probably wanted a paycheck and do A fun, very silly action Film. Now unfortunately this Film is more silly then an action Film.
