The Wolf of Wall Street
"The Wolf of Wall Street" is probably Scorsese's most comedic Film that he's done ever since "The King of Comedy" back in 1983. This Film is directed by Martin Scorsese. So you already know that it's going to be good because he's the genius responsible for such Films as "Raging Bull", "Taxi Driver", "Gangs of New York", "The Departed", and "Hugo". But when you watch this Film you can't even think for a second that this is a Scorsese Film because of all of the insanity that's happening in the Film. The Film stars Leonardo Dicaprio who's been in a lot of Martin Scorsese's Film's such as "Gangs of New York", "The Aviator", "The Departed", and "Shutter Island". Basically "The Wolf of Wall Street" is the fifth collaboration with those two. Dicaprio did a great job in this Film and I think he should at least get some sort of Award for it. The stuff that he does in this Film either involves his character doing cocaine, having non-stop sex, getting rich, and doing all three of those things at the same time. Dicaprio was probably getting some really big paycheck for this. The Film also features Jonah Hill ("Superbad", "Moneyball", "21 Jump Street"), Rob Reiner (the Director of "A few good Men", "Misery", and "The Bucket List"), and even Academy-Award winner Jean Dujardin ("The Artist"). The Film also includes Matthew McConaughey who's only in this 3-hour Film for about 5% of it. He was still very funny though. Anyway, Hill, Rainer, and Dujardin (who, like McConaughey only had a short amount of Screen-time) where all fantastic in this Film. Whenever those three were on screen they would just crack me up. They all give great, memorable performances that you'll just be remembering and talking about for days. Maybe even Months. This is probably the most graphic Film you will ever see all year in 2013. Forget "Don Jon" with it's footage of real-life porn Videos, "The Wolf of Wall Street" will show you someone having sex with a woman (even with a Man in one scene), Some Woman full-on naked, or a full-on sex scene involving cocaine or some sort of Drug-related product. If "Drug-related product" is a word or not then I'm going to use it anyway because that's one of the best way's to describe what happens in this Film. The Film plays as both a live-action cartoon (like "Django Unchained" I mentioned earlier in this review) and a historical Film. I forgot to mention that this is based a true story so whatever you see in this that's just so goofy, graphic, and just so goddamn crazy remember: it all really happened. The Film is about 40% a cartoon and 60% a historical Film. BELIEVE ME when you watch this Film it's practically a Film with two heads, one Head is a cartoon and the other Head is the historical facts. Hell, footage from an old "Popeye" cartoon is played during a crucial scene in this Film. So the Film itself knows that it's practically a freaking cartoon. "The Wolf of Wall Street" is going to obviously get some awards because the directing in this is great, the writing in this is unbelievably smart and witty, the acting by Dicaprio and everyone else is superb and hilarious, it's actually very original, everyone in this is having a lot of fun, and it's probably the best 3-hour you'll have of your life. Don't worry even though it's 3-hours long the Film goes by so fast because your just so entertained and having so much fun that the Film will feel about an hour and fifty minutes long. I'm dead serious. And it's also worth your $8.00 if you see this Film. So to wrap it up, I thought that this was a very good, funny, and really memorable Film from Martin Scorsese that will most likely get some Awards next year and appear on a lot of Top 10 Lists as well. And trust me, even though the Film is very long, it goes by so fast and ends so quickly that you'll never want it to end. So check it out.
