Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
Rating: 1/4
Well, I guess for a Film called "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" you'd expect it to be bad, especially for a Film that came out in January. And my God is it bad. Actually, it's not just that this Film is bad; it's just really, really stupid. Well, fine, "stupid" is pretty harsh to say, silly is a more appropriate word because not only is this whole Film's premise silly (in which Hansel & Gretel do exactly what this Film is called), but a lot of it certainly is: the writing, sloppy editing, and the terrible visual effects. I guess someone like Jeremy Renner ("The Hurt Locker", "Marvel's The Avenger's") really didn't care about the kind of Film that he signed up to do because for someone to be written this terribly and silly, is just embarrassing to not only himself, but to everyone involved in the Film industry. But alongside Renner, is his co-star Gemma Arterton ("Quantum of Solace") who also rally dose not seem to care at all about this Film. Not because of the fact that Renner and Arterton are both AT LEAST enjoying themselves in this Film, but the fact that she and Renner would both have the audacity to agree to be in this kind of Film. But aside from them, everything about this Film is just so, so, so silly from the terrible writing (everybody talks in awful clichéd written dialogue), the sloppy editing (this Film moves around and bobs everywhere that when you watch it, it feels like an epileptic seizure), the visual effects are awful (it feels like something that someone did in College), and even Hansel & Gretel themselves because for a Film that's about these two hunting Witches, they di a really, really terrible job at it. In pretty much every scene in this Film where they start to battle against the Witches, there both scene getting thrown, punched, kicked, and beaten. But Renner and Arterton at least make all of those scenes look like they have some sort of dignity in them.
So overall, this was a bad Film, nothing about this Film works. The writing is terrible, the visual effects are awful (I wonder how this Film was in 3D), the editing is sloppy and poorly put together, the premise is just ridiculously silly, and even Hansel & Gretel themselves do a pretty bad job at with what there doing. And not even Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton can at least look like they both are at least enjoying themselves and have all of this dignity in this mess of a Film.
