Stand Up Guys
Rating: 1.5/4
For a Film that's marketed as a comedy, or maybe even a dark crime comedy, it should at least have me laughing all the way through and keep me entertained. But amazingly, this is one of the most boring and dull comedy that I have seen in a very, very long time. Not even the Film's catchy title "Stand Up Guys" makes it remotely entertaining or interesting.
It's a shame that stars Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin (who are all Oscar winners) agreed to do this type of film because for a film to waste the time and talent of stars like these is just so freaking disrespectful. Even with the cast having previously been in some other Film's witch wasted there talent: "North" (Arkin), "88 Minutes" and "Jack and Jill" (Pacino), and "Heaven's Gate" (Walken). I'm not sure why these three talented actors had agreed to star in those Film's and this one. What's worse is that NONE of them look like there having a good time doing this. They all look tired and bored like the Film itself.
Now, anyway, when I say that this Film is boring, I mean, this Film is BORING AS HELL. This Film is no fun at all. Honestly the first thirty-five minutes of this film will just tire you out because for that time going on NOTHING is even happening. Heck, Arkin doesn't even show up, being with them, until about fifty minutes in the Film in. Not only that but this Film is just painfully unfunny because when people start to make jokes or have one of those "wild and crazy" moments in them, it falls so embarrassingly flat. So, not only was the Film just incredibly boring and not at all fun, but it's also embarrassing all around with the amount of "humor" and "craziness" that this Film has going.
It really is too bad that Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin all agreed to do star in one of the most boring, unfunny, and embarrassing Films -- yet with a really catchy title -- that I've seen in quite a long time because it's Film's like this that are going to make everybody (even the Director, the so-called "writer" of this film, and pretty much everyone involved with this Film) look back on it and just nod there Heads thinking "why did we make this Film?".
