22 Jump Street
Rating: 2.5/4
Well, I guess if you were a huge (and I mean HUGE) fan if the last Film (I know I was because of the rating I gave to the last one) back in 2012, then you're going to sure as hell dig "22 Jump Street" because it's more wild, crazy, and a little but more vulgar than the last one. For those of you that love that kind of stuff in Films (Films such as "This is the End" or "Neighbors") then "22 Jump Street" is pretty much your wet dream of the summer. But for those who actually can acknowledge that maybe, just maybe a little to much of that kind of stuff gets a little bit tired at some points then "22 Jump Street" is the biggest disappointment of the summer. But whatever. It is what it is.
Stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum along with Ice Cube (who's actually doing a fun, good enough job with this then in the god-awful "Ride Along") are at least enjoying themselves in this because not only are they just look back on the first Film and base there performances in the last Film, but they do also make you laugh every know and then with this Film. Heck, stick around during the end credits because it's honestly the best part of this whole Film. And that's saying something. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (who directed "The Lego Movie" earlier this year) also return to direct "22 Jump Street". And I still find it hard to believe that these directors who are known for directing kids Films would go out and direct something like "22 Jump Street". But, again, it is what it is.
So, while Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube are all having fun with this and how directors Chris Lord and Phil Miller bring all of the vulgarity and wild, cartoon-like antics like they did back in the first Film, I felt however that this really wasn't as enjoyable as the first Film was because it seemed to over-the-top and just to crazy because of all of the references and jokes that they were just throwing in our faces. I mean, look I wanted to try and enjoy this Film like I did with the first one, but I really couldn't because it felt like they (the writers) came up with all of this stuff -- with the references and jokes, just wrote it all down, and then decided to fill it up into one Film along with a plot that really doesn't make that much sense.
So, I guess I can say that while Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube WERE AT LEAST having a good time making this Film (which actually kept me from not giving this Film a worse review that I'm giving it now), "22 Jump Street" was a bit of a disappointment for me. Hell, the Theater that I went to go see this Film just ate this Film you because not only was the entire Theater packed, but the people that I saw this with, that sat right behind me, would NOT shut the hell up throughout this whole Film. they (actually it was just one person) were commenting, talking, and screaming all the way through this Film. And no, I didn't really like "22 Jump Street" because of the person that sat behind me.
