Peeples
Rating: 1.5/4
Surprisingly "Peeples" is actually better then most of the Films that Tyler Perry has ever had involvement with. But unfortunately, like all of the other Films that Perry has done or only produced (like this Film) "Peeples" just feels to much like a pretentious sitcom dressed up as a theatrical Film. This Film was directed and written by Tina Gordon Chsim. Who I have never heard of. What makes this Film a whole lot better then all of Perry's other Films is the fact that unlike in all of his Films in which pretty much ALL of the actors are pretty much unknown (only including one known person), this Film actually has about TWO known people! shocked? well, this Film actually got Craig Robinson and Kerry Washington involved. How? I don't know, but the Film at least got SOME known people (not "Peeple") to be involved with this. Another thing that makes this Film not as a painful to watch is the fact that despite Craig Robinson being written terribly in this Film, he is having fun with the role. Even if Robinson is known for starring in goofy, adult rated comedies ("Hot Tub Time Machine", "This is the End"), this Film still didn't feel like a departure from those kind of Films because "Peeples" actually does have some of the amount of goofy and adult content that Robinson does all together (but "Peeples" is not rated R). Now, not that many people (again, not "Peeple") saw this Film because according to Box Office Mojo this Film only made more then nine million over it's budget of fifteen million dollars. I would just like to say that Ii almost went and saw this Film in the Theaters when it came out, but I choose not to because when I went inside of the Theater it was practically empty. There was only about four or five people present in the Theater. Thank Goodness I didn't because if I where to sit down and watch this dumb, silly Film, I would have just wasted about eleven dollars watching a really pretentious Film that's written terribly, has a generic plot being involved, and just overall feels to much like a television sitcom. The kind of sitcom that you would watch on BET. Maybe if Tyler Perry was to move away from making these kind of Film and try making something different he'll actually win awards and his Films won't bomb badly in the box office. But nope, he just continues making more and more of these melodrama, sitcom-like Films without giving a crap of with what people (once again, not "Peeple") think of them.
