Lincoln
Steven Spielberg in 30 years from know is going to probably going to be recognized as one of the most critically acclaimed and most legendary Filmmaker in all of Cinema. Next to Orson Welles, Stanley Kubrick, and John Ford. Spielberg is going to eventually be with those legends as one of the best after Lincoln because this Film is just perfect. I mean from EVERYTHING from the Directing, Acting, Writing, Cinematography, and soundtrack this Movie is going to be the next Lawrence of Arabia in those 30 years because of what Spielberg has done. Yet again. The Story of the Film is that it goes back to January 1865 were Abraham Lincoln (Day-Lewis) is trying to pass on the 13th amendment of the united States which would end Slavery. Know although that is a very short summary of the Film keep in mind though that the Film is more then 2 hours long! and keep in mind that with most of Spielberg's Films he goes step by step and stays calm with the events, characters, and Story. But that should NOT AT ALL be a problem with some considering he is the most well known and successful Filmmaker in the 21st century. Steven Spielberg brings the story of Abraham Lincoln's struggle to pass on the 13th amendment to life in one of the most realistic and amazing way because as you watch the whole cast (especially Day-Lewis) you just dead-on believe that they are who they are. Spielberg also bought in Screenwriter Tony Kushner (who had previously Co-wrote "Munich" in 2005 with Eric Roth). Know although People are going to say so-so with Kushner's Script because of the amount of inaccuracies and mistakes that didn't happen in Lincoln's life (For example: When Lincoln is seen arguing with his Wife, Mary Todd Lincoln (Field), they argue in a way that kind of looks artsy and not really a real life argument, however according to Field that really was how Lincoln and Mary would argue with each other) but usually that's with most of Spielberg Films, "War Horse", "Schindler's List", "Munich", That although it is said to be a biographical Film they usually intend to be mostly accurate and the History of it is usually bought to life in a very different way. but the Audience dose not usually pay attention to that kind of stuff. The Acting in the Film by Day-Lewis and Field are outstanding. Day-Lewis is the perfect match for Abraham Lincoln because, one: he looks EXACTLY like him, two: he does a great American accent, and three: He actually moves, limps, and shakes just like the way Lincoln would do back in his time. Field is also great as his wife who brings everything she has to make her character realistic as possible. Know although this really is Day-Lewis Film I actually forgot to mention Tommy Lee Jones who was also fantastic as Thaddeus Stevens, one of the Republic Congressman, who, just like Day-Lewis, looks EXACTLY like him. There practically Twins! The Cinematography was also another great thing about this Film because the lighting and technical decisions that the cinematographer puts in the Film. The Soundtrack was also very memorable and great too because it matches exactly with the situations that are happening in the Film. A great Film with some of the best directing and acting of 2012 (Next to Argo). I suggest to watch the Film with your Family or friends but remember that, just like with "Life of Pi" the Film is very slow and calm with most of the scenes. Daniel Day- Lewis also became the first person to win 3 Academy Awards for Best Actor (He had previously won for doing "My left Foot" and "There will be blood") so if you say that Daniel Day-Lewis wasn't good enough to portray Abraham Lincoln you better watch your tongue on what you say. Also, I don't believe that Spielberg was robbed of the 85th Academy Award for best Director (He lost to Ang Lee for "Life of Pi") but hey, Spielberg was also robbed at the 78th Academy Awards (Lost, again, to Ang Lee) and at the 50th Academy Awards (Lost to Woddy Allen) and were all not complaining about that!
